Secret, Secret, I've got a Secret

Well Secret's long since been out, but it was a challenge keeping it in as long as we did.
It was after 2+ long weeks of feeling like absolute crap that I knew either 1- I was dyeing, or 2- I was pregnant.  So before we left for San Francisco I stopped by the neighborhood Walmart on my way home from work and grabbed a pregnancy test.  After taking it, it said I would not see results for 10 minutes, well about 30 seconds later I saw it out of the corner of my eye, 2 definite lines...
Pregnant no doubt.
I didn't quite know how to react and I wanted to tell Colby in some exciting way but we were leaving for an 11 hour drive and I didn't have time to think one up.  So I text Colby who was in class, "Can you keep a secret?"  After he replied with a yes, I sent him this...
"This would explain why I'm so tired, irritable, and nauseated.... Maybe you can forgive me?"
Needless to say Colby was not amused at me texting him to let him know, and I was sad I didn't get to see his reaction.  But he said he turned white, couldn't concentrate, then couldn't stop smiling.
So this is how I felt in San Francisco the whole time.
After we got back, we went to our first OB appointment.  This is the image we saw.  I was grateful to know my sickness was not all in my head.  Seeing the heart beat made it all real.
9 weeks
We decided since my family has mostly nieces and Colby's has mostly nephews, it would be fun to keep it a secret till we knew the gender of the baby.  The next 7-8 weeks were hard, but we did good.
At 17 weeks, we went to our appointment and though our Dr didn't want to give us a definite answer, we went with what he said.  We couldn't wait any longer.  So that Sunday we announced it to Colby's family.
We gave Chan her "Birthday Card" which was our little poem
Some of you have suspected,
And we can no longer protest it.

With a little babe inside that continues to grow,
It won’t be long until everybody will know.

We’re glad to finally announce, fore it’s been a long wait,
Mark your calendars; June 16th is the arrival date!

With our families each so lopsided we chose to delay,
Till a gender was known, we’re almost half way!

We will follow the trend for one,
Although breaking the mold may be fun.

Will it be a girl, oh so sweet;
With bows in her hair and frills down to her feet?

Or will it be a boy so strong and tough,
Who loves baseball, bugs, and all gross stuff?

Either way we are so delighted,
And hope you too will be just as excited.

Come now with us to find out,
See what this baby is all about.

Please cast your ballot by selecting a stick,
Hold it up to your lips so we can see just what you pick.

And together discover what this baby will be.
Soon you will know if it is a he, or a she.
Colby's moms reaction was priceless, she was totally taken off guard.  Unfortunately I did an awful job at recording, but I did get her face right when it hit her.
We then took them into another room where we had it set up for them to vote.
I tried to get everyone together with their votes but it didn't work out too well.
Only these 2 voted boy, uh oh:).
And somehow I didn't get a picture of the balloons coming out of the box, but they were BLUE.

Then the next week was my family's turn.
Their votes were a little more evenly spread
Kade so hoping for a boy cousin
FYI never try to make a yellow cake with swirled in blue food coloring and white frosting, not good for disguising! Frosting this was disastrous!
We then announced to all our friends with this card.

Maybe a little inappropriate, but we saw it on pinterest and thought it was funny:).
Here is our little guy's profile at our 20 week anatomical ultrasound.  He has Colby's cute button nose, and, from the glimpse of his feet that we saw, his toes too:).
We are so relieved to finally be out!
June 16th is fast approaching and we are beyond nervous/excited!
